The components of electric vehicle systems involving power semiconductor applications include motor drive systems, on-board charging systems (OBC), on-board DC/DC converters, and off-board charging stations. Among them, silicon carbide power devices are most widely used in the electric vehicle inverter market. The use of silicon carbide modules results in lower energy consumption, smaller size, and longer driving range for the entire vehicle. Currently, both domestic and foreign automakers are actively deploying the application of silicon carbide devices to optimize the performance of electric vehicles. Tesla, BYD, Toyota, and other automakers have begun to adopt silicon carbide devices. As the production cost of silicon carbide power devices decreases, the application of silicon carbide in the field of charging stations will also gradually deepen.
